UPM-Kyutech Mobility Programs in September 2025

Update:2025.10.03

From September 14 to 27, 2025, twenty-one students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) visited Kyutech for a 14-day inbound program. The program was organized by the Institute of Liberal Arts, and UPM students participated in the “International Collaboration Learning” (ICL) course alongside Kyutech students, engaging in Project-Based Learning (PBL) focused on the theme of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As part of the program, students attended an SDGs workshop facilitated by Associate Professors Peii Tsai and Hirofumi Saito, where they discussed and compared SDGs initiatives in Japan and Kitakyushu with those in Malaysia. They also visited the Kitakyushu Eco-Town Center to observe local SDGs efforts firsthand.

In addition, the students experienced Kyutech’s specialized education through various activities, including a 3D CAD modeling workshop at the Design Studio (Iizuka Campus), a lab visit to Associate Professor Noriko Takemura’s research group (Department of Artificial Intelligence), a robot development workshop led by the student project Hibikino-Musashi@Home, and an introduction to the student project Metaplus.

Cultural exchange activities were also part of the program, such as a welcome party at the Language Lounge (Tobata Campus) and a tea ceremony experience at the Global Communication Lounge (Iizuka Campus).

For the participating students, the program offered an opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technologies and SDGs initiatives in Japan, Kitakyushu, and Kyutech, while envisioning a sustainable future in their own country.
