Two graduate students from Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering at Kyutech participated in a short-term study program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia from June 2 to June 9, 2025. The program was organized and led by Prof. Maki Oshita from the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering.
In the first half of the program, the participants worked with graduate students in Prof. Shahrizal's lab at the iHumEn MagicX Lab at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Johor Bahru campus. In the collaborative activities, the students attended a Unity workshop and learned how to use the virtual reality(VR) system package of Unity middleware and developed VR applications. They also visited the Malay Cultural Village in Johor Bahru, where they experienced the Malaysian traditional art of painting with wax and paints, as well as the Malaysian culture of frames, musical instruments, and games.
In the latter half of this short stay program, the students presented their research in the international conference ICCGIV 2025 was held in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. The presented papers are going to be published in the IEEE electronic library. They also visited the Petrosains Discovery Centre in Kuala Lumpur to experience exhibits on science and energy technology.
Upon their return, they completed an online collaborative activity as an extension of the Unity workshop and completed the VR application developments.
